FOREIGN VISITORS

CONVERSATIONS WITH MR EDEN LIKELY TO PROVE FRUITFUL (Received 31st January, 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY, 30th January. . Mr Anthony Eden, Foreign Secretary, had conversations to-day with a number of representatives of foreign powers. This morning Mr Eden called on Prince Paul of Yugoslavia, and during the day he saw Dr Tawfik Rushdi Aras, Turkish Foreign Minister, Dr Fuad Aslani, Albanian Foreign Minister, and M. Lozoraitis, of Lithuania. This evening M. Litvinof (Russia) had an interview with the Foreign Secretary. The atmosphere in which statesmen have met in London in the last few days has been unsuited to specific or detailed negotiations, but the impression in well-informed circles is that the informative talks of a general character which the Foreign Secretary has had with visiting Ministers are likely to prove fruitful in increasing a common understanding and feelings of mutual confidence, which is an essential basis for the constructive tasks which lie ahead in the international field.

King Carol, of Roumania, left England this evening on board H.M.S. Montrose. Other members of the Foreign Missions who left London today included Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and Argentine representatives.
