MASTER GROCERS' CONFERENCE
MR J. S. TURNBULL PRESIDENTELECT (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHATEAU TONGARIRO, 30th Jan. At the master grocers’ conference, Mr J. S. Turnbull, of Wellington, was elected president-elect. It was resolved that the executive he located in Wellington for the ensuing year, also to urge the Government to exempt all foodstuffs from sales iax: and also in the matter of the Bankruptcy Act to grant preference to accounts for foodstuffs on the grounds that credit is given which in the ordinary circumstances would be withheld. It was also decided to urge that a Magisterial inquiry be held concerning (lie discrepancy in' the Auckland Charitable Aid Relief Board grocery contract The conference concluded to-night. T 1 ie next conference is to be held in Christchurch.
