New South Wales beat Victoria in the Sheffield Shield match by 26 runs. Victoria, who in their first innings made 165. in their second innings made 415 (Rigg 54. Leo 85, Scaife 70’, Hassett,sl, Plant 44). New South Wales made 325 and 281. Four Victorians were run out. lhe match had an exciting finish as the Victorians were most anxious to win the shield, which will now probably go t.o South Africa,
