CONFERENCE AT DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, 29th January. The joint annual conference of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland (New Zealand section), and the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, was commenced at Dunedin to-day, delegates being present from all parts of the Dominion. The programme ' for the conference, which will be concluded to-morrow evening, includes the annual meetings of the two organisations,- the reading and discussion of papers, and visits to local manufacturing concerns. After the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, which occupied the early part of the afternoon, the attention of delegates was devoted to the reading and discussion of papers on subjects of a technical character.

The annual dinner was followed by the presidential addresses of Professor F. P. Worley, Professor of Chemistry at Auckland University College, who is president of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, and of Mr G. A. Lawrence, of Wellington, chairman of the New Zealand section of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland.
