A glove which was picked up near t the scene of the crime led to the arrest ■ of Arthur Bannister, who has been ; charged with the murder of Philip Lake and Lake’s wife and children. The po- ‘ lice state that the men fought over Mrs Lake. After the husband had been clubbed the woman, who was semi-nude, f was chased through the snow and killed » with the club. A baby in her- arms ■ froze to death.
A message received yesterday stated that footprints in the. snow provided v the only clue to the killing of Philip Lake, his wife, and their two children. . The house was set on fire to hide the crime. ■'
