FALSE WRITTEN STATEMENT (By Telegraph—Press Association) HAMILTON, This Day. “ Described as the second case of its • kind in New Zealand, a charge of making a false written statement to the ' police without genuine belief in its truth was preferred against Frank Newsom Ililein Bird, chiropodist, aged 28 years, •in the Hamilton Court, to-day. The police alleged that they were put - to considerable trouble through a false allegation made-by accused to the effect . that two men robbed him of £BO Bird, ’■ who had a previous conviction for the..,theft of a revolver, pleaded guilty aiid was sentenced to two months’ imprison- . inent.
