THEFT OF MONEYS
SEVERAL CHARGES BROUGHT [By Telegraph—Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Several charges of the theft of moneys were brought against Henry Alan Moray Smith, company agent, aged 28 years, in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The amount involved was said to be in the vicinity of £2OO and was alleged to have been stolen from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., while Smith was acting as the company’s agent at Itakaia. The sums mentioned with the exception of, one were the property of the company, and were alleged to have been stolen during 1935. Accused was remanded in custody until to-morrow.
