SPRING GROVE CEMETERY
RESIGNATION OF TRUSTEE UNSATISFACTORY POSITION POINTED OUT A member of the Spring Grove Cemetery Board of Trustees, Mr J. E. Wells, forwarded his resignation to the Waimea County Council at to-day’s meeting with a letter pointing out the difficulties of the trustees in cleaning and maintaining the cemetery, and stressing the necessity of repegging of the area. A letter on the same matter was received from the chairman of the bogrd,, Mr J. W. Ching, who stated that the present position was unsatisfactory and if not remedied further resignations would probably result. The County Chairman (Councillor J. Corder) said the trustees should realise that they could not expect to keep the grounds in order with the funds, from the present sale of plots. He considered that the matter should be held up for a month and in the meantime 116 would approach the trustees. The Council should see that the repegging was done. At the present time a charge of £1 Is per plot was made and an increase in that charge might assist in overcoming the financial difficulty. Hie matter was loft in the hands oi the chairman to interview the trustees and the resignation was held over for a month.
