Full of confidence after defeating Perry, Crawtord drove deeply and powerfully, served well, volleyed more often than usual, and altogether overshadowed the Englishman's stylish but less virile game. Perry and McGrath fought at a gieat pace. McGrath in the first set hammered backhand drives straight dou n the line with remarkable accuracy, but Perry with intensifying boisterous belligerence overwhelmingly won the second.
