ALLEGED ATTACK
WHILE DRIVING CAR TARANAKI MAN’S STORY (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright,) f NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day; An allegation that lie was attacked by a man with a lead pipe while driving a car in Ngahauranga Gorge, Wellington, yesterday morning, was made by a Normanby man, Allan Kennedy, last night. Kennedy said that while on his way .to Thorndon station to join* the Taranaki express lie was overtaken by a luxurious car, the driver of which offered him a l'ft. He admired the car and was permitted to drive it through the gorge. He said that while returning through the gorge lie saw in the mirror his companion raise his hand with a weapon and strike. Kennedy ducked and the blow struck him on the side of his head. A struggle ensued and several blows were struck. Kennedy jumped out of the car and offered to fight his assailant. The challenge was-acoepted, and Kennedy struck.the man on the jaw,, jumped into the Car, aird-J-'drove to iJohnsonville, where he caught the express. He said the police at Palmerston North were informed.
