BRITISH TEAM AT AUCKLAND OUTSTANDING PERFORM A N GES (By Telegraph—Press Association! AUCKLAND, This Day. The outstanding feature of the amateur athletic meeting on Saturday, when the members of the British team and two Finns took part in handicap events, was the performance of Perasalo in clearing 6ft sin in the high jump handicap. This created a new Dominion record, the previous best being 6ft 4£in by Metcalfe, of Australia. Although unplaced in the discus throwing, Sippala did 132 ft 9i,in against the winner’s distance of 138 ft 6in, which included a 35ft handicap. Conceding a handicap of 80ft, the Finn threw the javelin 218 ft B£in, whereas the winner did 220 ft 4£in. In the mile, Craske (England) ran second in the good time of 4nrin 32 3-ssee, the winner being on 80yds. Rampling (England) failed to concede the winner 25 yards in the quarter mile, His time of 49 2-ssec was excellent under the conditions of a heavy track and a strong cross wind. Powell (England) won the half mile handicap from scratch in 2min 0 1 ssec, after conceding up to 38 yards. Murdoch, the remaining ineniber of the visiting combination, disappointed as a sprinter, running unplaced in his heat of the iOO yards handicap, and being unplaced in tile final of the 220 yards.
