NEW ZEALAND BUTTER
REPORT OF SMUGGLING INQUIRY IN UNITED STATES (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 18th February 7.0 a.m.) NEW YORK, 16th February. A message from Bellingham, ''Vasliiiigton, states that a report that New Zealand butter is being smuggled into Whatcom county is being investigated by the United States Customs authorities. A cargo of New Zealand butter reached Vancouver, British Columbia, recently, and is awaiting entry to Washington. Entry was refused by Dr. Robert Prior, State director of livestock and dairies, unless the butte." was accompanied by certificates showing it came from dairies complying with the equivalent of the Washington sanitary requirements, and he was told it would be impossible to trace the pro duct to its sources.
