COMMUNISM AND CAPITALISM TASK OF THE CHURCH (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE, 13Ul November. Speaking at the Anglican Assembly the Bishop of Goulburn, the Bt. Rev. K. H. Burgmann, said communism and capitalism were the two most vital problems the Church faced. Poverty was a social sin against which the Christian conscience must stand in vigorous and relentless revolt. ilis Lordship added: “Only as poverty' is reduced will a sense of security grow, enabling us to reduce the danger of war. The Christian Churches must face the task or else allow themselves to be pushed out of the stream of human history. The Church must not identify itself with capitalism or communism.”
