OLD TESTAMENT
CRITICISED BY DEAN INGE ADDRESS AT BIRMINGHAM CONFERENCE (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 4th September, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON. 3rd August. Dean Inge, the retiring Dean of St. Paul’s, addressing tlie Modern Churchman’s Conference at Birmingham, criticised the Old Testament, much of which was of little religious value today, and a great part unintelligible to ordinary English readers. So-called historical books contained much unwholesome ending. Personally with his own children he concentrated on the New Testament, and gave very few lessons from the Old Testament.
