The Rev. N R Wood,who lias been minister of ho Liawood Baptist Church for nearly four years, lias accepted a rail to iho Pei one Baptist Church, and will begin his ministry there in November. Mr Wood went to the Linwcocl church from the Baptist College in Auckland. Since he took up his ministry in Linwood’ the membership of the church there has bee:’, nearly doubled. Mr R. M. Barrel’, M.Sc., of Master ton, who last year was awarded tin--1851 science scholarship, has been elected a Denman Baynes research student ol Clave College, Cambridge, where lie is engaged in research and experimental work. Mr Bgrrer is a graduate cf Canterbury University College. Some of his experimental work is in heavy hydrogen. Mr W. Goodfellow, managing director of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., Mr W. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., and Mr C. J. Parlaiic, general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., leave Auckland by the .Niagara to-day to attend a meeting of Empire dairies at Sydney. They will return by the same vessel on 17th September. Father Stephen O’Callaghan has been elected Superior General of St. Joseph’s Foreign Missionary Society at the General Chapter of the society at Mill Hill, hi sucjessbi to Bishop Bierrnans, who has retired cn account of his health. McGregor,coiigra.i.nhL'cd Miss Wilson on her promotion aml referred to the pleasant and efficient manner in which she had carried out her duties and expressed the hope that she would find her new duties congenial. At the last meeting of the Nelson Local Unemployment Committee members took the opportunity of expressing to Miss Wilson their thanks for the vciv valuable assistance rendered bv her during the past 3( yeers. Miss Jean Simpson of Nelson has been appointed to the vacant position.
