OBITUARY

MRS H. DODSON The death was reported last week of Mrs H. Dodson, wife of Mr Herbert Dodson of Atawliai, Wakapuaka. Mrs Dodson was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs George Thompson of Nelson. Her early childhood was spent at Richmond. Later she moved with her parents to Nelson and attended Toi Toi Valley Girls’ School and Nelson Girls’ College. The late Mrs Dodson graduated B.A. of Canterbury College in 1894, being, one of the earliest pupils of Nelson Girls’ College to' gain a degree. For some years Mrs Dodson was a member of the Nelson Harmonic Society. Some years were spent in teaching at Hillside School, Wakapuak’a, and at other schools in and near Nelson. In 1902 she married Mr Herbert Dodson of Wakdpuaka. The early years of married life were spent at Wangamoa and later Mr and Mrs Dodson moved to Atawliai where, they have resided ever since. During' the, war the late Mrs Dodson took a- leading- part in training performers .‘qnd organising entertainments for patriotic purposes. ; Of recent years Mrs Dodson, was a prominent member.-of the Mothers’ Union, Women’s Division cf the. Farmers’ Union, St. Peter's. Ladies’ Guild, and the Wakapuaka Croquet. Club, Mis Dodson is- survived by her husband and two.sons: Messrs P. H. Dodson (Nelson) and E. F. -Dodson (Christchurch), and two daughters Misses K. and N. Dodson (Atawliai). 1 There is one grand son.
