“NEW DEAL” IN AMERICA
DISSATISFACTION WITH EX* PENDITURE DIRECTOR OF BUDGET RESIGNS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Ist September. Hyde Park advices state that President Roosevelt has accepted the resignation of Mr Lewis Douglas as Director of Budget, and appointed Mr Daniel Bell, a veteran Treasury employee, aet-ing-Director. It is learned that for months past Mr Douglas has been dissatisfied at the vast expenditure under the “New Deal,” and believed the balancing of the Budget would better' aid a return to prosperity.
