THREATENED PARTY SPLIT SOCIALIST MERGER OPPOSED (United Presß Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) VANCOUVER, Ist September. A proposal to merge the Co-operative Commonwealth Party with the Socialists threatens a split in the ranks of the Commonwealth Party. At the Commonwealth British Columbia convention today the suggestion met with such strong opposititm that a decision was deferred. The provincial parliamentary leader, the Rev. Robert Connel, strongly opposed it.
