OBITUARY
MISS FANNY DAVIES, PIANIST (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 3rd September, 12.55 p.ni.) LONDON, 2nd September. The death is announced of Miss Fanny Davies, pianist. (Miss Fanny Davies was born at Guernsey in 1861. She began to play before she was two years old, inheriting musical talent from her grandfather who played the violincello. She appeared once in Birmingham at the age of 6J, years, playing Beethoven’s Sonata with the Funeral March (without octaves). Her first appearance after her studies at the Crystal Palace was in 1885. She has appeared all over the world. While in Vienna in 1895 she saw a good deal of Brahms. She gave the first pianoforte recital ever given in Westminster Abbey in 1921, and in Winchester Cathedral’ and York Minster in 1922.) MR FRANK BRIANT, M.P. LONDON. Ist September. Obituary.—Mr Frank Briant, M.P. Mr Frank Briant, J.P., M.P.. was born at Lambeth in 1865. He served for fourteen years in the Civil Service. From 1914-15 he acted as chairman of the Old Age Pensions Committee for London, and was a member of the Public Assistance Committee of London For forty-six years he was the lion. Superintendent of the Alford House Institute for men and lads.
