MAN’S FINANCIAL WORRIES
INQUEST AT AUCKLAND', (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Ist September. The death of William Harmes Brown, aged 44 years, was investigated to-day by the Coroner, who found that the deceived died on his launch on 17th July from poison, self-administered. A widow gave evidence that she and Brown were to have been married on 18th July. On the day of his death he asked her for £l5O, and she refused to give it without security. She had previously lent him £IOO. He had told her he had a private income of £4OO and a salary of £l3 10s a week, and subsequently she had learned that his salary was £6 10s a week. She had proposed to postpone the wedding to enable him to put his finances in order, but be bad refused and had said something about there being an easy way out. _ She had not taken him seriously. Evidence was given that Brown’s body was found nine days later on a bunk in the launch. Besidei him was a note book with the words written “Thank God, all my worries are over.” There was a praver-book in his left hand.
The deficit in the estate was about £l5O.
The Coroner said it was quite clear that the man was worried and committed suicide.
