RADIO EMERGENCY CORPS
NATIONAL FIELD DAY Yesterday the local section of the Radio Emergency Corps under command of Section-leader R. Castles, took •an activo part in the national field day held in .every .;centre in New Zealand.' ;Tliis field day: was actually a practice day under condition identical with those',m case of an emergency, and tested the efficiency of both equipment and operators. The local section were fortunate in being able to carry to a conclusion the programme that had been) arranged, by headquarters for them. During the activities twenty messages were handled at the outpost station on Haulashore Island, these having been relayed from the base station in the city under control of Operator N. Burrell. Messages were originated at the outpost and sent over tlie network to their'destinations in different parts of tlie country. Tlie Nelson section during the tests were in touch all day with the Blenheim section, and their outpost, which was situated some miles from the town. The operators tak. ing part were Section-Leader R. Castles, Operators L. Redsliaw, D. Tout, R. pulpitt, D. Pharazyn, G. Gould, N. Burrell, and 11. McLaren.
