GENEROUS BEQUESTS
THE LATE DR. W. E. COLLINS CHARITABLE AND PUBLIC GIFTS • (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A number of charitable and public gifts are provided for in the will of the late Dr. W. E. Collins, who died on 11th August. The will provides for the following bequests : £250 to the New Zealand Medical Benevolent Fund ; £OSO to the Otago University Medical School: £SOO to the Victoria University College, Wellington, for the encouragement of English literature; and £SOO to the same college for the encouragement of loyalty to the Sovereign and patriotism. Subject to a. prior life interest valuable works of art, china, and pictures are given to the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts at Wellington. The sum of £7,000 was deposited with the Public Trustee in 1931 for the benefit of the Red Cross Society, and the income from £5.000 of this amount is to be applied for the purposes of the Junior Red Cross oi New Zealand, including the publication of the Junior Red Gross journal. The income, from £IOOO is to provide immediate relief for persons in New Zealand suffering the consequences of disaster or calamity due to earthquake, floods or other forces of nature; and the income from £I,OOO is to be applied towards the aims and objects of the Red Cross Society.
