MOTOR CYCLE RACES .
GRASS TRACK EVENTS MEETING AT AUCKLAND (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, 20th April. The first grass-track motor-cycle races held in Auckland for several years were keenly contested by riders from various parts of the North Island at the Takapuna racecourse. The attendance was disappointing, about 500 people being present. The races were organised by the Auckland Motor-cycle Club, and were highly successful, although some southern men who were in Auckland a week earlier were unable to wait when the meeting was postponed for a week on account of rain. The track was too heavy for record speeds, but good times were general. There were no spills. The outstanding event was the New Zealand heavyweight championship, which resulted in a great race between B. Bray (Auckland) and E. Ranby (Palmerston North). The contest was considered the best ever seen in. Auckland, there never being more than ten yards between the two men at any stage of the twelve-mile event. .Bray w r on by a length after an exciting contest. L. Perry (Auckland) being third. The Dominion lightweight championship was. won by.C. Goldberg (Auckland), with L. Perry second. Goldberg was the most successful rider of the day, gaining two firsts . and two seconds.
