COLLECTING AGENT SENTENCED (By Telegraph— PreßS Association) 1 PALMERSTON NORTH, 18th April In the Magistrate’s Court James Robert Melhvraitii, agent, aged 28 years, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment in all on five charges of failing to accunt for moneys collected on behalf of business firms, the amount involved being £74 2s (kl. The police said the accused, who pleaded guilty, established a collecting agency, subscribers paying an annual subscription. Subscribers lately experienced difficulty in obtaining statements from accused, who had finally filed a petition in bankruptcy. The magistrate said the amounts should have been treated as trust funds.
