Wearing special boots witli a layer of rubber between the leather soles to lessen the jarring of the feet, Larwood batted for a quarter of an hour at Nottingham, using his feet quickly and freely. His injury apparently gave no trouble. TOURS FROM OVERSEAS CONFIDENCE IN COUNCIL (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, 18th April. Confidence in the New Zealand Cricket Council in arranging tours from overseas was expressed at a meeting of the management committee of •the Canterbury Cricket Association, •when a lettef from the Wellington Association was under discifssion.
'Pile Wellington Association wrote enclosing a copy of a letter sent to the New Zealand Council requesting that negotiations he opened at once with a view to the council arranging for an overseas team to visit the Dominion next season. The letter to the council, after stating that disappointment had been felt in some quarters at the cancellation of tiie Australian tour, added that if tiie council did not wish to enter into negotiations for a tour, the Wellington Association sought permission to negotiate with the M.C.C. or India, failing satisfactory arrangements with Australia,
It was decided to reply to the Wellington Association that the matter of arranging tours was the duty of the New Zealand Council, in which the Canterbury Association had every confidence. Koine members said the Wellington Association showed enthusiasm, but it was agreed that tiie principle of tours being arranged by the council he adhered to liy Dominion associations.
