DANGEROUS SIGNAL
REPLACEMENT URGED (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, !B‘h April. Owing to the dangerous condition of the fog signal at Tiritiri, the Auckland Harbour Hoard has decided :o notify the Marine Department immediately that in the circumstances it cannot allow signalmen in it.o employ to continue operating it. The Marine Department will also be asked to install a modern sound signal of the diaphone type, similar to those installed at l’eiiciuTow .(Wellington), Gqdley. • Head (T.yrielton), and Taiaroa Head (Otago). The present Auckland machine is considered to be O ’U of date, and through defects, the. lives of men working it ar.> placed in danger.
