ANNUAL MEETING.OPENED ADDRESS BY PRESIDENT (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union opened this morning. In his presidential address Mr A. E. McPhail (Canterbury') said it appeared that international Rugby ' relationships were better than ever before. There were some differences on the rules, hut in a broad outlook were not of 1 much concern. The game was more solidly established in New Zealand than before. Despite criticisms of the management, finances were being carefully handled. The New Zea-’ land management committee should give earnest'consideration to the question of broadcasting with view to serving the best interests of the unions as whole throughout the Dominion. He did not think there was any reason to regard future competition for the Ranfurly Shield with any concern. Canterbury was prepared*’; to pass minor unions over to permit major unions having a good cut at it.
