NELSON JOCKEY CLUB
PROSPECTS FOR EXCELLENT MEETING Given fine weather th e prospects for the forthcoming Nelson race meeting are particularly bright. The nominations received are exceptionally good being 203 for 14 races only, against IST for 10 races last year. By running only 7 races per day and reducing the intervals between the races, it is possible to commence the races at 1 p.m., the latest time of starting that has been possible. This should enable all patrons to se the whole programme which has been difficult in previous years. The running of the races at shorter intervals than is usually adopted elsewhere should also be popular. The last race is timed for 5 p.m. and with the meeting coming a fortnight earlier than last year and the daylight saving being still in operation, conditions should be ideal for the public. Although given reasonable acceptances there should be few if any races with 6 starters a very important departure has been made in the matter of paying out dividends as it is now permissible to pay two dividends on 5 horse races instead of 6 as previously. This should prove very popular. In races where there are 9 or more starters three dividends will be paid.
To cater for the convenience of the public also, the club has reverted to the two charge system at the gates and it will be possible for patrons for gain admission to the course and see the whole programme for the very small charge of 2s 6d, the lawn and stand being its extra. Totalisator and refreshment facilities are provided for bolh enclosures and music will be provided as before through 2ZR relay. A very largo contingent of West Coast horses have nominated and as they have all been running at the West Coast have nominated and as they have all been running at the West Coast circuit form should be a good guide. \
