TERRIBLE FACIAL INJURIES
TERRIFIC EXPLOSION IN GARAGE

WAIHI, This Day.
Roderick Lockett, a young mechanic employed at Roberts and Mahony’s garage, sustained terrible facial injuries as the result of an explosion in a forty-gal-lon si eel drum containing a small quantity of carbide. Lockett was applying acetylene flame in boring the centre of the lid of the drum when a terrific explosion followed, hurling the steel lid through an iron roof. It is feared Lockett will lose his eyesight.
