SUCCESSFUL OPENING A most successful opening of the "Isel” links was held on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of members and visitors and the weather was perfect. Despite the dry season the greens played very well and some excellent cards were handed in. The president, Air A. Douglas, welcomed the visitors and expressed special pleasure at having the patron, the Rev. J. (B S. Bartlett, present, lie puid a tribute to Mr Bartlett’s work as founder of llic club, and wishing the chib every sin cess m the coming season,
asked his wife to drive the lirsl ban whit li she did must suceessluliy. Mixed foursomes were arranged and after nine holes, afternoon tea \\as dispensed. The best card returned was i;(bunall and Mrs ( voucher—not 3U, Stephens and Mrs Morris being runners up with net 40. During afternoon tea the players were pleased to listen to a short speech from the Rev. Mr Bartlett and then the president announced the result ol the competition and presented the prizes. Mr Milner returned thanks mi heha.i ol ll,c visitors, and Mr Chisnall, Club captain. thanked the ladies for the utternoon Lea. .... l’lav was continued till dark, and ail enjoyable afternoon was snent.
