Ingenious cameras are being used in the world-wide battle against disease. A patient was suffering froiU v an eye disease which baffled the specialists of a Brazilian city. The trouble had to be diagnosed swiftly to save the patient’s sight. The patient’s eyes were, therefore, photographed by a special camera and the photograph was sent by wire to Berlin, where it was submitted to a specialist. He diagnosed the disease, and his prescribed treatment was cabled to Brazil. The patient’s sight was saved. A stomach camera has been used in England. The patient swallowed it, and it took tiny pictures of his stomach. The camera was a cylinder 2in long and 5-Bin thick. It was attached to two tubes, one conveying the current for lighting a flashlamp and the other for the wire operating the shutter. A safety fuse saved the patient from any danger of shock. Sixteen tiny plates were exposed in 20 seconds, and the pictures were enlarged.
