BAPTIST BIBLE CLASSES

_ EASTER CAMP The delightful weather which favoured the Nelson district for Easter, enabled the Bible Classes of nearly all the churches to enjoy their Easter camps to the full. < . Housed in the commodious buildings of the Richmond Show Grounds, 65 to 70 Baptists campers enjoyed a very successful camp. Miss Baigent, assisted by Mrs Heslop, superintended the girls’ side of camp, while MrF. W. Thomson, camp secretary, with the Revs. -J. D. Jensen and J. C. Macky, took charge of the boys’ side. Visitor’s to the camp daily made large accessions to the meetings and to the meal table.

, The Good Friday morning service was held in the Richmond Baptist Church, when the Rev. J. D. Jensen, of Auckland, special camp speaker, gave an inspiring message of “The Cross,” and afterwards conducted the Communion service. In the afternoon Mr Roy Heslop, missionary designate to South India, gave an interesting narrative of the recent Crusaders’ Camp, held at Ponui Island, Auckland. The evening meeting was led and addressed by the Rev. J. D. Jensen.

On Saturday the campers journeyed in two buses to Max’s Bush, where on the banlcs of the Wairoa river a very pleasant day was spent in playing cricket and other games ,while boating and swimming were also enjoyed. Hungry and happy the campers returned to an excellent tea provided by their popular camp cook, Mr Percy’ Haycock. The same evening the Rev. Mr Jensen gave a most inspiring lecture on the life of Charles Hadden Spurgeon, who is often called the “Prince of Preachers,” and whoso centenary all Baptists throughout the world are celebrating this year. On Sunday morning the Rev. J. C. Macky- conducted the Easter Day service with the campers in the Richmond Baptist Church.

After the usual daily Bible-Study-Cir-cles on Monday, Miss Edith Heslop, Graduate of the N.Z. Bible Training Institute, gave a very helpful message on the essential qualifications for a missionary. A most interesting programme of games and sports, etc., kept everyone interested during the afternoon. Visitors were welcomed and provided with afternoon tea. The concluding meet inn- on Monday night, conducted by the Rev. J. D. Jensen, yvas a memorable one, and nearly ey'ery camper gave expression to tlie blessing received through the happy Christian fellowship of camp life. Next morning, at 6.45, all campers partook of their late breakfast in camp yvith wistful feelings that camp days had been far too short.
