CRICKET HONOURS
SOUTHLAND PROBLEM (By Telegraph—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, 27tli March. An interesting position has arisen in connection with the senior cricket competition. By scoring an outright win (four points) against Union on Saturday, Old, Boys finished the season one ’point ahead of Marist, who drew with High School. All matches ' that day were one-day fixtures. 1 The Cricket Association is now faced with the problem' of whether these matches can count for the championship, as it is held that two-day matches are the only ones for which it can give championship points, and that tlie competition close on 17th March. If last Saturday’s-games are not to. count, Marist would win ’the competition. The chairman is to give a ruling on the subject at the next meeting of the association.
