SHUNTING MISHAP
TRUCKS DERAILED AT HE ATI!COTE (Ily Telegraphy-Press Association) CIIRLSTOHIIROfJ, 27th March Three trucks, including a 30-toii petro| tanker fully loaded, which were attached to the'middle of the 3.30 p.m. goods train from. Lyttelton to Christchurch, were derailed at Heatlieote this afternoon while leaving a shunting line on tlio south side of the main track. The train was moving slowly at the time, and pulled up almost immediately in time to save tlie following trucks and tankers from jumping the line. The derailed trucks were not badly damaged, and two of them were moved off in the early evening. 'File petrol tanker, containing 5000 gallons of spirit, came to rest almost on its side, firmly up against a solid power pole. If the pole had not been there tlio tanker, weighing 34 tons, might have rolled completely over, dragging more trucks with it. There was ho fire and no leakage.
