Tu connection with (lie discovery ot an immunisation vaccine Dr. Kramer described the vaccine as a mixture of. the virus of infantile paralysis and convalescent serum obtained from the blood of recovered patients. He said that the virus which causes the disease is not a germ, but some agent too small to be detected by Hie most powerful microscope, while Hie convalescent serum is believed to contain immunising or neutralising chemicals produced in the patient’s body that render the disease virus harmless.
