EMPIRE BROADCAST
ON CHRISTMAS DAY TOAST OF “ABSENT FRIENDS” (Britiib Oilicial Wireless) RUGBY, 22nd December. Before a short message which the King will bioadcast to Hie people throughout (lie Empire on tile niternoon of Christmas Day-, there will be a programme to which almost all parts of the Empire will contribute. From the -Mother Country there will go out a description of the actual condition's in London and other parts of the country, and among others who will take part will be a miner speaking trom the bottom of Bedwas pit, the deepest in Wales, and a lighthouse keeper at Whitley Bay, Northumberland. Tile toast ot “absent friends” will be passed round tlie Empire from London to Dublin, ami then on in turn to Bermuda, Ottawa, Wellington, Sydney, Bombay, Capetown and back again to London, encircling the world in a quarter of an hour.
