At tlie Moorefield Races results were: Moorefield Mile —Ranchero, 8.5 (McCartcn), 1; Satmoth, 8.11 (Browne), 2; New King, 8 15 (Sharpe), and Prowler, 7.10 (Simpson), dead heat, 3. Fourteen started. Won by a- neck, dead-heaters being a length away. Time, 1.41|. Flying Welter Handicap (second division) —liayacre, 9.10 (T. Webster), 1 ; Questionnaire, 9.6 (Browne), 2; Snow Sun, 8.10 (McCarten), 3. Fourteen start-: ed. Clangor was unplaced. Won by three lengths. Time, 1.16. The Mirror was unplaced in the Brush Hurdles. Safari unplaced in the Three-year-old Handicap. Persian was fifth in the Moorefield Mile and Kodapen was sixth in the Moorefield Handicap. Bayaere showed very bad behaviour at the barrier, and the starter recommended future refusal of his nomination. The veteran sprinter Greenline ran his last race and has now been retired to the paddock. FLEMINGTON MEETING REDDITCH FALLS MELBOURNE, 20th August. At the Flemiugton Races the August Hurdles resulted—Poidale, 10.9 (Hynes), 1; Zetheus, 10.12 (Nelson), 2 ; Laniroi, 9.6 (Bracken), 3. Six started. Won by four lengths, seven lengths. Time, 3.45. August Steeplechase —Lanilda, 10.11 (Fullerton), 1; Sir Widgee, 9.5 (Bracken), 2. No others finished. Four started, including Redditch, which fell six furlongs from home. Reddilch caused a sensation as he has been the outstanding jumper of the year and winner of the Grand National Australian Steeplechase. Redditch immediately rose and galloped away, but his rider, R. Inkson, was seriously injured with concussion. Lanilda won easiiv by two lengths. Time, 4.15^. In the Apprentices Handicap the New Zealander Ruling Light was fifth. Peter Jackson ran badly in the August Handicap. Irish Chieftain, Sir Simpslet, and Dazzling Light were unplaced in their races. A JOCKEY KILLED THREE HORSES FALL BRISBANE, 20th August. At tite Ascot Races yesterday three horses fell in the Welter Handicap. A. Goddard, leading jockey, died from a severely fractured skull, and S. Bennett, another jockev. was rendered unconscious. At the inquiry several jockeys expressed the opinion that Goddard, on Elzard, tried to force a passage where (there was insufficient room. His mount fell, bringing down High Gold and Comi mandant.
