HARASSING ACTION

The “Herald” says that when the House of Representatives meets on the 27th September the Country Party' will move "for ail adjustment immediately- to direct attention to the “harassing action of taxation officials.”' This motion is regarded as a grave challenge to "the Government and if carried it will constitute a severe form of censure, taking the business out of the hands of the-Min-istry. It is stated in Federal political circles that the breach between • the United Country Party arid the United Australia Party cannot be closed, and if the present Ministry is defeated a composite administration would be impossible. Taxation proposals and tariff policy are the main causes of dissension. The “Herald’s” Canberra correspondent says that recent events' point., to the Lyons Government being -forced- to make an early appeal t.q, the ,electors.“On present party lines-the Government cannot be defeated, hut' it could not survive the slightest defection from -its ranks.
