MOTUEKA V. NELSON MATCH FOR TEAMS’ CUP (From Our Own Correspondent) During tile week-end a very pleasant ami interesting inter-club game was played on the Motueka links. Tlie Nelson Club, holders of the Teams’ Cup, brought the cup over with them; but, owing to the strong opposition displayed by me members of the Motueka team, the Nelson players returned minus the cun, Motueka winning the match by 10 games to 4. The result of the match is as follows:—Heath and Stringer beat Stedman and Thomas 7-6; Drogemuller atul Smith beat Burrell and J. A. Mitchell 3-2; Pettigrew and Painter and Davis and Sinclair all square; Webley and Thorp beat Goodman and Kerridge 7-5; Cameron and Pocklington beat J. W. Mitchell and Fell 2 up; Stratford and Stilwell beat Bradshaw and Griffin 2 up; Heath beat Stedman 7-5; Stringer and Burrell all square; Drogemuller and Thomas all square; fcmrui lost to J. A. Mitchell 3-2; Pettigrew and Davis all square; Stilwell beat Bradshaw 4-2; Painter beat Sinclair 2-L: Webley lost to Goodman 3-2; Thorp lost to Kerridge 4-3; Cameron lost to Griffin 1 up; Pocklington beat J. W. Mitchell 5-3; Stratford beat Fell 4-3 The only club match played last weekend was Webley versus Painter in the second round of Club Championship, Webley winning 4-3. HUDSON CUP FINAL Messrs Painter and James who tied for first position in this cup competition played off recently and Painter proved himself the winner and holder of the cup for the season, by a substantial margin, the winner returning a fine score of net 63 to the loser’s Mr Painter thoroughly deserves his win having returned four cards of 69 net each, despite two reductions in his handicap, during the time he was competing for the cup. Mr Painter is to ho congratulated for Iris steadiness and his wellmerited win.
