WRESTLING
VARGA DEFEATS OSWALD (B> Telegraph—Press Association) WANGANUI, 19th August. Count Varga, (Hungary) beat Hank Oswald by two falls to one, the deciding fall coming in the seventh round. At that stage Oswald had scarcely recovered from the effects of a not altogether unexpected back loop slam and body press, which ended the sixth round, and Varga had no trouble hi dumping his opponent within seconds after the seventh round had opened. ROUGH AND LIVELY AUCKLAND, 19th August. A wrestling match between Hal Ifumberg and Jack Paterson was the liveliest and roughest of the season. Rumberg won by two falls to one. Paterson used his elbows freely, pulled Rumberg’s hair, and made his opponent release holds by pulling one side of his mouth. Rumberg returned what he received with interest, and Paterson was frequently sent sprawling with hard forearm blows to the face.
