ACCIDENTS m BROOK STREET
TWO WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS FRACTURED SKULL AND BROKEN ARM Two accidents happened on Saturday afternoon in Brook street within a couple dt hours of eacli other. Rona Newport, aged about 12, a daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Newport, while riding a bicycle caught a foot in a basket which was hanging from the machine and she was thrown down the bank into the Brook. It was found that the child’s skull was badly fractured, and she was removed to the Public Hospital. Later in the day a lad, Bobby Brough, a son of Mr and Mrs R. Brough while playing in a loft fell to the ground, and broke his left arm. He was subsequently removed to the Public Hospital. A BROKEN ANKLE Yesterday afternoon Mrs Chas. Cotton, a very old resident of Nelson residing in Halifax street, while engaged about her house slipped and broke an ankle.
