PROPOSED RECLAMATION WORK INVESTIGATIONS TO BE MADE Mr K. J. Holyoake, M.P., has received the following'letter from the Minister of Public Works (the lion. J. Bitcliener): — “With reference to the deputation which you introduced to me at Motueka on the Ist ultimo, consisting of representatives of the Motueka Progress League and other interested persons, asking for the reclamation of a mudfiat adjoining the Motueka Harbour, I have to advise you that a survey in connection with tlie reclamation of the mudfiat under discussion is now being undertaken, and in a verv short time I will be able to advise you as to tlie conclusions to which the Department lias arrived concerning this matter. • “I might mention that tlie Marine Department has received certain communications in connection with this reclamation, and it will be necessary to consider the work from its point of view as well as from tho point o! view of the reclamation of the land, that is to say, it will he necessary to take into account whether or not tho proposed reclamation would have injurious effect upon, the Harbour. However, all aspects of the question will be looked into, and you will be advised of the result as soon as possible.”
