CALCUTTA, 18th August. The Peshawar column of Indian troops encountered a force of hostile tribesmen north of Katsai. The latter used a machine gun, which was silenced by tire column’s artillery. There was heavy firing but no casualties were suffered by the Indian troops. The casualties of the tribesmen, who retired, are unknown. The sniping of the planes continues. More bombs were dropped, with, it is reported, good effect.
