QUEEN’S DRIVE ROAD
EXTENSION TO BISHOPDALE “ONE OF FINEST VIEWS IN DOMINION” At yesterday’s meeting of the Nelson Progress League Mr P. Best made a plea for the early extension of the Queen’s Drive road to Bishopdale and it was decided to request the Mayor of Nelson (Mr W. J. Moffatt), the VVai-nie-v County Council chairman (Mr J. Corder) and the chairman of the local Unemployment Committee to investigate the matter. Mr Best considered the work would be suitable for unemployed relief. He considered there were no finer views or finer walks in New Zealand than along Queen’s Drive and he wished to see the work put in hand as soon as possible. The completion of the road would be a great asset to the city. Mr W. J. Moffatt explained that the City Council’s work was to its boundary with the Waimea County, but the extension of the formation would have to be a combined effort. The Council regarded the drive road as a standby work when other smaller works in the city were completed. After further discussion,.,the league came to the decision mentioned above.
