It was mentioned by counsel when applying for a license under the Transport Act yesterday that his client bad a contract in 1908 to “cart fruit from Redwood’s Valley at not more than a walking pace’’ for fear of bruising the fruit. Counsel added that it must have been the first time fruit was carried in a motor truck.
The Mid-Canterbury executive of the Farmers’ Onion resolved protesting against a. reduction of the period stock from England must spend in an intermediate country.—Press Association.
