ILLEGAL DOCUMENTS
IMITATION JUDICIAL PROCESSES (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. William Edward Allison was charged to-day with selling documents in imitation of judicial processes. DetectiveSergeant Revell said the defendant had written to the police forwarding a plea of guilty. The charge was laid under section 20 of the Police-Offences Act, which provided a minimum penalty of £2O, Defendant had a number of documents printed in Christchurch, headed “Final notice of intention to proceed in the local Court for recovery of debt.’’ Defendant had canvassed New Zealand with these, and people had been prosecuted for sending them out. “We know nothing about this man,” said DetectiveSergeant Revell. “We have not had an opportunity of interviewing him apart from serving the summons.” The Magistrate imposed a fine of £5 on the-first charge and £2 on the second.
