The Senate passed the Sweeps Bill,_ S emitting each province to hold brie rawing for the benefit of : hospitals annually. The fate of the measure in the House of Commons is problematical. MEAL TAX i i (Received sth April, 12.35 p.m.) VICTORIA, 4tli April. All meals over fifty cents in British Columbia public places are to be taxed 6 per cent to support hospitals.
