MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
POLL IN REGARD TO FIRE DISTRICT During the next few weeks increasing interest will be displayed in the Municipal elections which take place on 3rd May. On the same day a poll will be taken to decide whether Nelson will become a fire district under the Fire Brigades Act. The supplementary roll for the electors closed to-day and nominations for positions on the local bodies will probably close on 20th April. So far there has been no announcement of any candidate to contest the Mayoralty against Mr W. J. Moffatt, but quite a number of names are freely mentioned in the city in. connection with candidature’ for the City Council.
