NEW ROAD SURVEY
LEWIS PASS TO THE COAST (By Telegraph—Press Association! CHRISTCHURCH, 4th April Survey work on the Lewis Pass road to the coast has now been completed, and the five men engaged ir. the, work, including Mr R. A. Wilson, an engineer, have returned to Christchurch. The route is 24 miles in length, and the general grade is very easy. The surveying partv’s wjrk was 10 select a good line along the valley, cutting through the bush,l measuring, and taking direction on the sleep This was arduous work, but it present id no great difficulties. It occupied six months.
