■ —i CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, 11th February. In the Supreme Court Ivy Myra Goodin, married, aged 25 years, was sentenced to a month’s hard labour for receiving stolen goods. Mr Justice Reed said it was time to call a halt in the extension of probation in cases of theft from shops and stores.
Other sentences were:—Horace Joseph Crofts (20), for carnal knowledge was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called cm within a year; Thomas John Morris, shop breaking, with thefts and receiving, 12 months’ reformative detention; Ceclric Charles Kiddy, attempted housebreaking and theft, two years’ Borstal detention; Charles Edwards, sending a false telegram, 12 months’ imprisonment; Archibald William MeCorkindalj*, theft, 12 months’ reformative detention ; Walter Thomas, forgery, two years’ probation; Wallace Percy Eather, indecent assault, two years’ imprisonment; Charles Edgar MePcak, theft of £11)00, 15 months’ imprisonment.
